Baby Alpaca Survives Cougar Attack

Donation protected
This sweet baby alpaca was attacked a week ago by a cougar.  His brave mom chased the cougar down and the cougar dropped her baby.  The baby was only a week old and we are astonished that he survived the attack.
We have the attack on surveillance camera and it is the scariest thing we have seen.  We are calling him Lucky. He is the luckiest alpaca to survive such trauma.

We had to get his neck stitched up and he is currently on antibiotics and pain medicine when he needs it. We will have a few more visits to the vet for check ups and if complications arise.  He is struggling to get under mom to nurse so we are supplementing with bottles.
Lucky has been the sweetest baby and so friendly since he was born. We are praying he recovers so he can live a nice full life here on the farm.
The funds will be used to cover his vet bills and anything extra will be used to add additional fencing around our property so we can get Livestock Guard Dogs to keep the cougars at bay.  We have had alpacas for nine years and this year is the first year we have had a problem with predators.

We have had so much support from our friends and community. We are are so grateful for the help we have received.

We, Lucky and his mom thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
