UPDATE on BABY OLIVER….
Daniel finally got his turn to hold him he was nervous at first, but I think he looks like a pro holding him. He’s already talking to him about the Braves & highlights from the games. His first word may be Acuna lol.
Oliver is doing really good! He’s been able to wean his oxygen down to 21-23% on his cpap. They restarted his feedings again the other day & he has been tolerating those well with no spit ups & good outputs. & last night he went through the whole night with no apneas or Brady events. such a strong, incredible little boy.
We’ve officially made it to 26 weeks! little Oliver is doing good. He’s still off his BP meds, starting to have put out on his ostomy, and all his labs and blood gasses are looking good. His main problem right now is his oxygenation. Sometimes he does good and they are able to wean it all the way down. Sometimes he gets fiesty and they have to turn it up to keep his sat up. I told the nurse he gets the attitude from his dad
Today was kangaroo day at the NICU so he got to have his first party he’s not able to be held yet, so we did hand hugs, took pictures with some kangaroos, and they had lunch & door prizes provided for the parents.

For those of you who don't know the events leading to this point, here is a little backstory.
After a very long struggle with fertility, Cassy and Daniel found out just before Christmas they were finally pregnant-with TWINS!! After their gender reveal in March they found out both babies were BOYS! Around 17 weeks of pregnancy, Cassy began leaking fluid and was told that Baby A's (Alexander) sack was losing amniotic fluid. The amniotic fluid is very important in the growth and development of babies. At this point, all they could really do was wait and monitor. At the end of April, they admitted Cassy to begin steroids and antibiotics to give them the very best chance.
May 3, 2025, these two little guys decided to make their grand arrival into the world in a quite memorable fashion.
Alexander Wesley was born first & is the baby whose sac broke 7 weeks ago. Going into all of this we knew he would be the one to most likely have the most complications. His tiny lungs were underdeveloped due to the low amount of fluid the past few weeks. After one week of fighting like the little champion he was-God decided to bring him home to sit at His right hand.
Alexander Wesley Godwin
5/3/2025-5/10/2025
He was a fighter. He was so loved. And he will forever be missed.
Oliver Michael was born second and is doing somewhat okay. His lungs were a little more Developed and we even got to hear his tiny little cries when he came out. He’s on the vent now & was breathing okay. He was having a little bit of difficulty with his BP so they were giving some medications to help with that. He has been weaned down to room air with his ventilator. There was a hiccup yesterday that led to a surgery, however he came through like a champ and is doing well.
Baby Oliver still has a long road ahead and Cassy & Daniel are having to do one of the most difficult tasks that any parent could be forced to do. Their families are asking for help in any way you can provide, be it monetarily or by way of prayers. They will be able to use and greatly appreciate either and both.
