Baby Aleksandra and family
Donation protected
Hello family and friends, we as a team of active and retired Palm Bay Firefighters are coming to you to ask for your help for the family of one of our own. Sergeant 1st class Gabe Sorensen of the Untied States Army, his wife Kelsey Sorensen and their beautiful daughter Mia will be expecting a new bundle of joy Aleksandra Rose on September 28th. Many months back they received the news after extensive testing that baby Aleksandra has been diagnosed with Spinal bifida where the scans revealed that Aleksandra's spine is exposed and there is an opening in her lower spinal chord. Other scans also revealed that she has another condition Hydrocephalus which is build up of fluid in the cavities within the brain. Doctors are preparing for two surgeries immediately after Aleksandra is born. The first to repair her exposed spine and the second if necessary to install a shunt in her head to drain the fluid.
These last few months have rocked Gabe and Kelsey's world. There are a lot of unknowns, the severity of her condition, what her needs will be, and whatever disabilities she may have due to these conditions. This family will need all the financial help they can get not just after the birth, but moving forward. Anything at all will help and as a thank you our team will be "running for a reason." On November 18th our team will run an ultra marathon, a 31 mile race and dedicate it to the family.
We thank you all for your love and generosity.
