Baby Adam needs our help to regain his mobility and vision. Let’s help him heal!
A happy, healthy, bouncing baby boy, Adam Dotson was born in 2017 to his loving parents Charity and Henry. At just 7 months old, Adam suffered a terrifying series of medical traumas including seizures, fevers, low blood pressure, infections leading to sepsis (“going septic”), and finally being comatose for 4 days. His debilitating illnesses continue to mystify Adam’s doctors and loved ones; In spite of rigorous testing there are still no answers as to what caused all of this. So, with no answers and after spending 10 days in the hospital, Adam was released home. Although he is now stable, he is very much a different baby.
Still beautiful and precious, Adam's body no longer functions as it once did. Brain injuries, severe visual impairment, and loss of most of his motor functions are the devastating aftermath of his medical traumas. Adam, who had been learning to crawl in the weeks prior, could no longer lift his head. The baby who happily nursed on his mother’s lap was now fitted with a feeding tube. The sweet boy who would smile from ear to ear when looking at his grandmother's face, could no longer see.
But after much prayer and diligence, hope is beginning to emerge for Adam...
In the time since Adam's medical traumas, the treatments his parents have been able to obtain have shown some promise. Adam's visual impairment, once rated as a 1 out of 10, or blind, has recently been advanced to a 2 by his ophthalmologist. He has been able to unclench his hands and learn to hold his head up on his own in Occupational Therapy. Day-long crying due to GI discomfort has been significantly reduced with medication and a special diet. Charity and Henry work tirelessly to pay for and continue these treatments at home. They believe a mixed approach, utilizing traditional and alternative therapies, is needed to heal their son.
As with most innovative treatments, their insurance refuses to cover most of the costs for the alternative doctors Adam needs. He also needs ongoing specialist care, and his parents need help with daily expenses along this unexpected journey.
Our financial gifts will help Adam receive treatments such as visits to a naturopathic chiropractor specializing in the KST method, as well as an oxygen chamber, called a hyperbaric chamber, to help prevent visual nerve damage and to restore oxygen levels to normal. Gifts will also help cover costly yet important testing at the Mayo Clinic's Children's Hospital, if neccesary. In addition to helping pay for these treatments, money raised through this campaign will be used for more traditional medical treatments, specialist visits, and medications. Our financial support will help heal Adam.
While there remains much more to be done—more specialists' visits, countless therapy sessions, new techniques to explore—and although this “new normal” has financially overwhelmed the family, Charity and Henry remain dedicated to Adam's recovery and to maintaining hope he will be healed.
PLEASE help heal Baby Adam. Pray, give, and share today.
