Baby Abel: Our High Risk Pregnancy Journey

Baby Abel’s Story:

Baby Abel’s parents (Leslie and Angel) were ecstatic when they found out they were pregnant but their world quickly shattered when his mommy’s water broke at 19 weeks. Unfortunately, Abel’s mommy, Leslie, was diagnosed with a pregnancy complication called PPROM (Preterm premature rupture of the membranes) which means that there was a rupture of the amniotic sac which surrounds the baby and keeps it alive. Leslie was told that Abel would most likely not survive and was strongly pressured to terminate the pregnancy, however, Leslie is now at 22 weeks and baby Abel is miraculously still going strong and fighting to stay alive. Leslie has been on best rest at home for 4 weeks and has not been working nor receiving any compensation which has made her pregnancy journey more difficult. She has also had many stressors from her previous medical team that was not supportive nor accurate in their testing of her or baby Abel. In a fight to keep herself and her baby safe and alive, Leslie sought out a second opinion and found a highly skilled doctor that is going to help her successfully give birth to Abel. However, for Abel to safely make it out of the womb, Leslie will need to be on bed rest at the hospital from 23 weeks until the baby is ready to be taken out at around 32 or 33 weeks (roughly 8-10 weeks). Additionally, Leslie and Angel will need to pay for everything out of pocket since the new specialist is not covered by their insurance.

From the bottom of our hearts, we ask that you help us bring this miracle child into the world who is already loved by so many. Baby Abel deserves a fighting chance and money should not be a deterrent in helping this beautiful child have a safe birth. Any donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

UPDATE:
After 6 weeks on bedrest in the hospital, Baby Abel was born on June 23,2023 via emergency c-section. He was born at 30 weeks when our goal with our medical team was 32-34 weeks due to our PPROM diagnosis. He was born with some complications, one major one being pulmonary hypertension due to his underdeveloped lungs. Abel had to be flown to a different hospital for his complications as his birth hospital did not have all the resources. His new hospital is an hour away from our home and his medical bills continue to add up for his care. Our family and I would like to ask that you continue to share and or donate to help our babyboy. Any donation is appreciated greatly, thank you all so much!!
