Baba Fred’s journey to Congo!

Hello friends, family and community! I’m embarking on the journey of a lifetime to Congo. This trip is an opportunity to study drumming, dance, and culture and deepen connections with my history and family. My daughter and grandson will be traveling with me as a part of a cohort that includes culture bearers and holds ties to Fua Día Congo which has been an intricate part of my connection to Ngoma. I will have a chance to meet drum makers and deepen my study.

The trip includes a humanitarian component and we will be working with a birthing clinic in Congo that serves 100-150 patients weekly. This is an opportunity to deepen our impact on the communities we are visiting.
