I’m reaching out on behalf of my neighbor, Amanda Spencer, a hardworking single mother of four, who recently lost everything in a devastating house fire that was not her fault.

While Amanda and her children thankfully made it out safely, their home was completely destroyed. Although she had homeowners insurance, the payout was not enough to fully cover the cost of rebuilding. Due to the skyrocketing price of construction materials, Amanda had to use the personal property funds—meant for furniture, clothing, and appliances—just to get the rebuild started.

To make matters worse, Amanda is now being blacklisted by most insurance providers because of the fire. Her only option is a policy costing over $7,000 a year, which she had to accept in order to keep rebuilding. She placed her remaining funds into escrow to prevent her mortgage from increasing, but she’s still making mortgage payments on a home they can’t yet live in—and she has no resources left to furnish it.

Amanda is not asking for much—just a chance to give her children a safe, comfortable home again. With your help, we hope to raise enough to cover:

A refrigerator and stove

Beds for her 4 children and herself

Dressers for their clothes

A TV for comfort and connection

Lawn equipment so her sons can maintain the yard themselves

Other essential items to make their home livable again

Amanda is a kind and dedicated mother who has handled this crisis with incredible strength. I’ve watched her do everything she can to stay afloat—but she can’t do it alone.
