Over the last several years, my life has changed in ways I never anticipated – from surviving a major stroke to being diagnosed with breast cancer and undergoing chemotherapy and a bilateral mastectomy. I’m now preparing for radiation and continuing reconstruction while working toward the next chapter of my life: returning to part-time work in financial services and rebuilding my financial independence.
In June, I also experienced an unexpected and heartbreaking loss. My roommate and dear friend, Kevin, passed away after his own battle with stage IV cancer. Kevin was much more than someone I shared a home with – he was a friend who helped make sure I had a safe and stable place to live during one of the most difficult periods of my life.
Losing Kevin has been incredibly difficult emotionally, and his passing also created an unexpected financial reality. We had shared household expenses, and I am now responsible for those costs on my own while living on Social Security disability and continuing cancer treatment and recovery.
I am actively working toward rebuilding my independence, including returning to part-time work when I am able. Right now, though, I could use some help bridging the gap while I get through this chapter and figure out my longer-term housing situation.
If donating isn’t possible, sharing this post – or connecting me with a firm that may need experienced part-time client service or operations support – would mean just as much.
Thank you for your support!
