Building a New Future for Bruce

Bruce was in a motorcycle accident on May 22 which resulted in him being thrown from his bike. He sustained numerous and serious injuries to include several broken ribs, a collapsed lung, blood in his chest, and a broken neck. The most serious of injuries however was to his spinal column. He shattered the C7 vertebrae causing bone fragments to lodge in the spinal cord. As a result he is experiencing paralysis from the chest down.
On Sunday May 24 he underwent an eleven hour surgery to address the fracture in his neck so that he could be put in the position necessary for the back surgery followed directly by surgery on his spine. The purpose of the spinal surgery was to remove shattered bone, replace it with a titanium vertebrae, and support the spinal column with rods and screws. This was imperative in order to be able to support his weight so that he can sit in the upright position without his spinal column collapsing. That was a success, however the surgeon was not able to repair the spinal cord. As such, Bruce will not regain the use of his legs.
Due to this accident, Bruce's house needs to be extensively remodeled so that it is ADA compliant and he is able to live as independently as he can. The money will be used to acquire supplies and labor to remodel his kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom so that he may live comfortably.
Any remaining funds will be used to cover medical bills and other expenses related to Bruce and the care that he receives.

Thank you!!!
