Help Liz Beat Cancer!

As many of you now know our dear friend Liz was diagnosed with breast cancer on February 15 of this year. Biopsies of two tumors revealed two different kinds of breast cancer; ductal carcinoma and invasive mammary carcinoma. After her initial mammogram, a MRI reveal two additional tumors which were not originally detected. Due to the extent of disease, Liz’s age, coupled with her family history, it was the consensus of her world renowned team at Dana Farber, that a double mastectomy was her best chance at long term survival. Unfortunately, we will not know whether chemotherapy or radiation will be necessary until lymph node biopsy are performed. We will not have that information for 7-10 days after her surgery. She is scheduled for her mastectomy on this Friday April 22 at Brigham and Women’s in Boston. She has an incredible spirit and has been keeping such a positive, yet realistic outlook for what’s ahead. It goes without saying that her whole life has been completely changed, with her priority now being solely on her health and spending as much time with her son Seamus as possible. Due to the physical nature of her massage practice, she has been unable to work since her diagnosis and will not be able to resume for months to come. After much gentle pushing and encouragement she has agreed to let me start this fund for her.
