Welp....here it is... That day you never thought would come. The day when you have to create a fundraising page for a loved one with cancer. "Brittany has Breast Cancer".... I had to say that out loud today to myself because it still does not seem real. She is 28 years old. And she has 2 beautiful young boys. Its awful. Not only is she my friend, she is basically my sister. But since I am not blood related, yet a pseudo "adopted" child to her amazing family, I must give you a little back story first....
Brittany is the sister of my best friend Anthony. And when I say best friend, I don't just mean a regular best friend. This family is considered my family, I have known then for fifteen years and they are the most beautiful, crazy, dynamic bunch. I love them for it. They are truly like no other. Man have they been through their ups and downs, but they are the most loving, generous and inviting people you will ever meet. Kathi.... The mom....literally "THE" mom, because she will adopt you in a heart beat if she likes you haha .....you think I'm kidding. There are not enough words in my vocabulary to express what I feel for this woman. She is the rock that holds the madhouse together and even though everything around her might be falling to pieces, she WILL hold it together for her children. Her love is beyond love. And I know because of her and the rest of that family, that Brittany will get through this.
Now to Brittany.....
Brittany, before anything else.... Is a mother. And damn is she good at it. The thing about Brittany is that she has already had so much bullshit thrown her way that you think to yourself "Really?! Are you human ?! How are you dealing with all this??" YET, she carries on. Because she has to. She has to for Landon and Jesse, her two amazing children. I watched those two beautiful boys be brought into this world and ever since the moment they were born, she has dedicated her life to them. Remember.... She is only 28 years old. I AM 28 years old and I can barely get up in the morning to get ready for work.
You see.... One of the harder parts about this situation is that Brittany's grandmother (Kathi's mom) passed away of Breast Cancer at a young age... So this hits home for the whole family. We are the type that can at least put some humor into the situation and make dumb jokes because that's who we are, but when it comes down to it.... We need her. So you can go f*ck yourself cancer because Brittany is going to win this one. Sorry not sorry.
If you have had the patience to read through my gigantic story here, then you have clearly already committed yourself to donating. That Starbucks you're going to get tomorrow? Skip it. Those 8 beers you're going to have on Friday? ( 8 is normal right?!) Ok maybe still have the beers.... But get on here after your buzz has kicked in and donate!!!!
