I am Auntie Edith's oldest niece. My name is Norma Holmes. Auntie is 104 years young. She has been in an assisted living apartment for 10 years. "My little house" is how she refers to her studio. Her funds are dwindling and will only pay for two more months rent. An independent lady, she would not approve of me asking for help to pay her rent! She still manages to dress herself most of the time (never forgetting earrings and lipstick) and is able to push her wheelchair down the hall to the elevator and into the dining room for meals. Auntie greets every resident with a smile, making conversation, even though she doesn't hear a word. She is an inspiration and grateful to be 104 years young. You just have to admire and love this woman. As a young lady, in the 40's, she drove the western states demonstrating White Sewing Machines in the dime stores, saving enough money to purchase a small home. Auntie Edith met her husband after landing a job at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. She worked the Shooting Gallery concession and at that time live ammunition was no problem! My Uncle Ross passed away in 1980 and Auntie sold her little home in 2005 to move into assisted living, never thinking that she might be there 10 years and more. I would be so grateful to have your help for Auntie. Just down the hall from her studio she has a view of the boardwalk where she and hubby spent so many happy years.
