House Fire on Sheppards Mill Rd

On Sunday, September 15th, the Hymer family, Louie, Jen, and two children returned home after a family outing to find their home completely engulfed in flames and family members desperately trying to get inside to save the pets inside. Jen opened the front door and yelled for the dogs. Louie and Blake broke windows in the bedroom- the only room in the house that didn’t have smoke billowing out. This bedroom was the only room that had its door shut. They climbed in and attempted to get the animals but couldn’t because of the smoke and flames were now racing to that room. Their two dogs, Zena and Gronk, two birds, and a turtle succumbed to the smoke and were unable to escape. The five alarm fire completely gutted their home. This is a family who has never lived above their means. Louie and Jen are both selfless and would do anything to help others out, even if they had to go without. They had just recently paid off a payment plan on new appliances that were also lost, which was such a big accomplishment for them when they never purchase big items. With just Louie working, and no homeowners insurance, donations are greatly appreciated to get this family back into their home. Because there is no homeowners insurance, cleanup will be done by the family by hand. Donations will go towards clean up, demolition, and removal. The family is planning on rebuilding or bringing in a new home depending on the extent of damage and future funds and costs to be incurred along the way. This home has been in their family since their grandparents and has a lot of sentimental memories attached to it. They are extremely heartbroken over the loss of their beloved pets. Your donations, thoughts, and prayers are greatly appreciated during this trying time. Update 9/19/19: The township is requiring plot plans, zoning permits, demolition permits, a survey, a new septic, and construction permits. These are added expenses that are driving up the total needed to get this family back into a home. A better option may be to raise funds for another home for this family could move to and clean up the old home. We have to keep our options open as there are no savings to put towards this disaster. Rebuilding is really what the family wants because of emotional attachment, but it may not be doable.  Kitchen Bedrooms
