Cataract Surgery

Hey, my name is Brian, I'm raising money for my mom's upcoming cataract surgery. Mom has had cataract for the last 8 months+, and we recently went for consultation with a private clinic because her condition is currently severe; as OHIP covered surgeries are currently backlogged and has a 8-12 month waiting period, whereas the private clinic can have her complete this surgery as soon as the end of this month. However, our issue is the cost. The surgery is $3,100 per eye. We did try to inquire about doing one eye at the clinic and the other via OHIP/Hospital, it was recommended that she stick to one facility as the quality in material is not the same. However, waiting for the OHIP is not an option at this point.

To give you all a brief of my mom, she has always dedicated herself to giving care to me and my grandma for most of her life; we've always lived very reserved, didn't spend our lives doing anything big. She is a believer of Christ, and has always been committed to going weekly in anyway she could. I believe my selfless nature stems my mom--thoughtfulness and genuinely wanting to help others, to be generous and gift giving has always been what she has taught me. We've always relied on our own abilities to get around, to live day by day, rent etc. We try our hardest not to ask for help from anyone.

However, in this circumstance we would appreciate any help that we can receive, having cataract has been affecting my mom in her everyday life, reading the bible, sewing and watching tv has all become very difficult for her, currently she reads using a magnifying glass on top of her recently made prescription glasses.

I am humbling myself to create this Gofundme for my mom, as an only child with special needs and working with an inflexible pay schedule to provide for my mom has been very challenging, on top of this issue, we've also had to put our money towards bills, rent increase and paperwork fees for other obstacles, So it has all been mentally taxing on both of us, and I'm always looking to repay my mom for the caregiving she has provided me all these years.

My vision or wish for our family, is to live in peace and to be able to take a trip together. However, right now this surgery is the most important, and I reassure everyone that this has been written from my whole heart and that any money that is donated to this surgery will only be used for this purpose.
