Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for the generous response to the Franklin Go Fund Me fundraising efforts, and to those of you who transferred gifts to the Franklins privately. Patrick and Elena are overwhelmed by the love and generosity of friends and family. Between Go Fund Me and private donations, this community of support has blessed them with about $40,000 – well on the way to the goal we set of $50,000 to cover one year’s worth of living expenses, medicines, recovery and rehabilitation costs.
As Elena has shared on the Caring Bridge updates, Patrick is now home! This is such a miracle, and we celebrate with them this wonderful restoration of Patrick to his family.
The long journey of recovery for Patrick has just begun. Patrick will soon move from Short-Term Disability to Long-Term Disability at which point he will receive just 66.7% of his salary (about 50% once taxes are paid). Doctors are indicating that he will not be in a position to work for some time, and it is not clear at this moment whether or when he will be able to go back full-time. Meanwhile, it’s critical that he take the necessary time to recover and not feel a sense of urgency to rush back to work before he is physically ready.
The generous gifts from this community of family and friends have already begun to reduce financial pressure on Patrick and Elena. If you have not already donated, or if you would like to donate again, we invite you to consider a gift to help reach the $50,000 goal.
Ways to donate:
Through GoFundMe.
Through e-transfer or PayPal to [email redacted] (note the 't'), or [email redacted].
Gifts through either of these approaches can be made at any time. Please note that funds donated are not tax-receiptable.
Thank you in advance for your ongoing care for Franklins and for considering a financial gift.
With gratitude,
The Franklin Support Group (Doreen Harvey, Marla Konrad, Ruth Malinowski, David Peck, Jonathan Wilson)
