We Are The Village; Help Bring Charli Mack Home

Meet my dear friends, Whitney and Lee. I am creating this fundraiser with their permission.

My friends and I felt led to create this fundraiser for two very deserving people who have honestly been through years of heartbreak. I will not go into all their personal struggles as that is not my story to tell.

W&L (Whitney and Lee) have been together for fifteen years; and in December, they celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. Even while dating, they discussed their desire to have children and, most importantly, their desire to adopt a child.

They have prayed for ten years for the opportunity to have children by whatever means the Lord had planned for them. However, after all those years and no child, W&L settled into their lives as just the two of them committing themselves to serve the Lord in whatever capacity they could.

Fast forward almost a month ago, I was with her when she received a text out of "nowhere" from family of a friend in Ohio who asked her about adopting a baby that was abandoned by the mother at the hospital who had been doing drugs while pregnant. The baby, who had no name, had to go through drug withdrawals at the hospital with only the hospital staff to care for her. She had never been held by her mother.

Whitney and Lee knew immediately they did not care about her background, her medical history, etc. They knew immediately that they wanted this baby and that her name would be Charli Mack Wooten.

The mother was willing to sign her parental rights over; but because of the high-risk lifestyle that the mother led, what should have been a simple task of signing the rights over to them turned into one challenge after the next after the next, resulting in W&L having to consult an adoption attorney.

As we all know, attorneys do not give away their services for free or cheap. With help from friends, they were able to pay the retainer fee; but as this is just the beginning, they will eventually need more.

These funds will be used to pay for further expenses that may arise such as travel expenses, court and attorney fees, supplies for the baby once she is home, etc., and to lighten the financial load ahead for them. Any amount will help, be greatly appreciated, and be honored by using it for the reason it is given.

We also request and covet your prayers during this time as it has been a journey fraught with challenges which have been hard mentally and emotionally. Nevertheless, W&L stand firm in their faith that this child will be in their arms one day soon, home where she belongs.
