Tessa Aycock’s Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katie and on January 19, 2022 my sweet 2 year old niece, Tessa Claire, slipped out of the house unnoticed, and fell into a pond. My sister immediately noticed she was not in the house and began searching but Tessa was found submerged after an estimated 30 minutes. Tessa received 25-30 minutes of CPR before she developed a heart rate again. She was intubated and transported to a local hospital who then transferred her to Memorial Hermann in Houston. Tessa was very, very critical and given a poor prognosis due to the swelling in her brain but has shown miracles hour by hour. Since her accident, she has shown amazing improvements. She’s off the ventilator and breathing on her own. She responds to all stimuli and is able to make sounds, move her extremities, and track loved ones with her eyes. For her condition, Tessa’s improvements have been miraculous thanks to thousands upon thousands of prayers from those standing in the gap. But her fight is not done yet.  MRI results showed two areas of her brain shows hypoxic injury to her basal ganglia and cortical regions of her brain. The basal ganglia are responsible for movement, posture, and motor skills. The cortical region is responsible for personality, behavior, thought process and some speech. We are unsure how the deficits will present themselves until Tessa is completely off sedatives. We have a long road of recovery ahead of us, weeks of hospital stays and inpatient therapy with occupational and physical therapists. We are also looking for hyperbaric chamber therapy. This highly pressurized oxygen therapy is extremely effective in healing brain injuries and lessening damage. In order to pursue this route of healing, we must first raise money to do so as this is not covered by insurance, but has shown amazing results in injuries similar to Tessa’s. This treatment is extremely expensive and will be happening in the next few weeks. It would consist of living in New Orleans, LA for 8 weeks. This entire medical journey will be highly extensive, expensive and time consuming. Medical bills, hotel stays, food and gas are all needing to be covered. Funds are desperately needed to give Tessa the best opportunity of having a full life. We know this is the best way to recover Tessa's brain function and are begging for your help. Tessa is a very loved little girl who deserves the best opportunity to give her back her life. She needs to play with her sisters again, she needs to hug her mama and daddy and chase their puppies. Please donate to our cause. God bless.
