Over 20 years ago John Millard was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis. It remains unclear what causes the immune system to attack healthy liver cells but according to Mayo Clinic, environmental and or genetic factors may play a role in this rare disease. Despite this life-altering diagnosis John has continued to be a loving father (soon to be a first-time grandfather) a great friend to many and a dedicated employee. To know John is to not know him by this rare disease but instead to know him for his kindness, his humor, and perseverance. No matter how sick John gets he never complains and continues to put others before himself. On December 15, 2022, John got a long-awaited call from Mayo Clinic and on Friday, December 16, 2022, John received a liver transplant. John, now unable to work as he had always done before, faces a long recovery and many financial burdens.
We are asking for help to raise funds to assist with the cost of John’s treatment and other expenses associated with an organ transplant. Any funds received will go directly to John's medical bills and rehabilitation as he has a long year of recovery and will not be able to work during this time. John has always been the first to jump in and help others, now he needs our help.
Please consider being an organ donor, it does save lives and a great big THANK YOU to John's transplant team at Mayo.
