Hello, I am Laura Porter and I’m creating this fundraiser for my cousin Jenn and her partner, Casey, who are facing the difficult challenges of his cancer battle. The goal is to help ease their burden and remind them they are not alone. The Diagnosis That Changed Everything

In May, Casey thought he had a pulled back muscle. Within days, the pain became unbearable, and he was unable to get out of bed. A trip to the ER revealed the devastating truth:

Stage 4 Renal Cell Carcinoma, already spread to his spine and ribs.

The Fight Begins

Since that day, Casey has been in a nonstop battle for his health. He’s undergone three major spinal surgeries to remove tumors and stabilize his back—surgeries that were critical to preserving his ability to walk. Complications followed, including a dangerous episode of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), extending his hospital stay.

After rehab, Casey returned home and began double immunotherapy to slow the cancer’s growth. The side effects were brutal, and he was hospitalized again. He’s now completed that round and is awaiting next steps.

What’s Next

Radiation therapy is planned for his spine, but it’s been delayed due to healing and the complexity of his case. Just last week, Casey underwent a lumbar puncture and myelogram to help guide the radiation team. Treatment will begin soon.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Casey has been unable to work since May. His medical leave is running out, and without returning to work in October, he risks losing his insurance. He wants to go back—but he needs to be strong enough to do so.

Jenn, his soulmate and primary support, has been by his side every step of the way. As a nurse, she’s been present for every hospital stay and treatment. But being there has meant stepping away from work, and now her own leave time and PTO are nearly gone. The emotional toll is heavy, and the financial strain is growing.
