Fighting Myeloma

Hi, my name is Carolina Klein and I’m fundraising for my loved mum, Rose, who is fighting multiple myeloma, which is a cancer of the bone marrow.
My mum came all the way from Brazil to help me look after my two kids (5 and 2 years old) while I'm working in Australia.
However, just a month later starting a new job, on the 4th of March, she had to go to emergency as she had a heavy bleeding. After a lot of exames and tests, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in stage 3, and a kidney infection. Myeloma can damage the bones, immune system, kidneys and red blood cell count, causing confusion, dizziness, stroke, like weakness on one side of the body and slurred speech.
She has been in hospital since then, as she had to have some blood transfusions, and 2 surgeries to stop the bleeding.
She started a light chemo on March 13th but this is not the proper treatment as her insurance (Bupa) does not cover cancer treatment, and unfortunately we cannot afford it. She needs to start proper treatment as soon as possible to prepare for the transplant that will be done in Brazil (as Bupa will not cover it). Her immune system is not working well and, of course, she cannot travel to Brazil under these conditions (she has been bleeding since March 4th).
My mum is a very kind person who has decided to stay away from my dad and brother to support me and my husband here in Australia for one year and now we have received this very sad news.
I'm sure you can imagine that the increased medical fees, hospital, medication, treatment and flights back to Brazil can be a lot for a family who is battling cancer and all the physical, mental and emotional concerns that come with that.
For this reason, I decided to start this GoFundMe to help to pay the costs related to medical bills, doctor appointments, out-of-pocket surgeries, and the high cost chemotherapy.
This recent diagnosis came as a huge shock to our family. To those who can give, no matter how small, any amount is much appreciated.
