We are asking for $25,000 to cover the costs of a new playground structure, along with its shipping and installation.  All funds received via GoFundMe will go directly to the purchase of either a large play structure or several smaller structures - depending upon how much money we can raise and the timing of any installation that is required. 
     When the school opened, playground equipment was purchased that met the needs and standards at the time.  Over the 15 years that has followed, the main playground structure has degraded to the point that it cannot safely be used one more year.  City codes and laws have changed, and we are now required to replace this structure with a much more expensive commercial grade play equipment.

    We have set up a committee to handle all of the fundraising and planning involved for this project -- we are actively fundraising and reaching out to local community organizations for donations, but the actual cost of the structure, shipping and installation is such a HUGE cost to our small school that we are also now reaching out to EVERYONE EVERYWHERE who supports or appreciates the amazing work that charter schools and their staff do for their students. 
    
  Trillium Charter School is a public K-5 elementary school in Arcata, CA.  Our mission is to nurture community values within a diverse curriculum. We offer small group and individualized core academic instruction balanced with strong school wide environmental science and art education.
     We offer before and after school care for working families and participate in the national school lunch program, including free or reduced meals for eligible students. Our school consists of two combination classrooms: one for K-2, and one for 3-5 with full-time credentialed teachers and part-time paraprofessionals in each class. We are proud to maintain a very low staff to student ratio for core academics.
