I signed up for the Stafford 10k back in March but at that point didn’t know which charity I wanted to support.

Just a few days later my great nephew Finn arrived and it soon became apparent he needed major surgery to enable him to swallow.

The John Ratcliffe Neonatal Unit took great care of our little man enabling him to come home a few weeks later, and I know they looked after his parents too, supporting them through such a difficult time.

Ronald Mcdonald House also provided Chris and Hannah with somewhere to stay, meaning they could get some much needed rest whilst still being close to Finn to be able to visit at anytime.

And so, it soon became obvious who I wanted to support to say thank you to these two amazing charities who cared for our Finn and his family and hopefully make a small contribution to others who need their support in the future.

Stafford 10k is on Sunday 21st September and to say my training hasn’t gone to plan is an understatement! I have done very little running probably for the last couple of months due to injury.

I have managed to hobble round for 9k this morning (with a week to go!) so unless everything seizes up (which is probable) I am hoping to be able to do it and finish before everyone has packed up and gone home for lunch.

If I’m not up to it, I will still cover the distance either by walking or at the gym.
