On September 12th, my cousin Christina passed away at the age of 38. Christina was born with a mental handicap that left her completely dependent on others throughout her life. Despite her challenges, she blessed everyone around her with contagious laughter, boundless joy, and a spirit that far outlived expectations. She nearly doubled her life expectancy, which we believe was through God’s grace and the love that surrounded her.

Just over a year ago, Christina’s mother passed away. This left my mom, Christina’s aunt, as the closest remaining family member who takes responsibility for her. Wanting to prepare for the future, my mom took out a life insurance policy for Christina. Sadly, Christina’s passing came only 13 months later, too soon for the policy to be honored. The insurance company has denied the claim, leaving my mom responsible for all of the funeral expenses. This financial burden is especially difficult for her as she is retired and already facing her own medical expenses from her continued battle with breast cancer.

I am creating this fund to help ease the financial burden my mom now faces while she grieves the loss of her niece. Any amount you can contribute will go directly toward covering Christina’s funeral expenses with Jones Mortuary in Clinton and lifting this unexpected hardship.
