Hello, and thank you so very much for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!

My name is Hannah, I’m 23, and I am trying to raise funds towards my tuition fees. I am due to begin training at The London School of Musical Theatre in May of this year, and a total of £16,000 stands between me and my place on this phenomenal course. If you would like to hear me sing, click the following YouTube link! https://youtu.be/3dozzOdUcvk
For those who already know me, they will be aware of how long I have worked and trained and waited for this incredible opportunity, at the prestigious school that I have pinned my hopes on for many a year. Please take a minute to visit https://www.lsmt.co.uk to take a more detailed look into the establishment that I am raising said funds to attend. Being successful in gaining my place means being one inch closer to stepping out into the industry that I adore, however, fees are a colossal hurdle on this pathway of mine.
I feel it is important to stress that the school has been generous enough to offer support in the form of a £2,500 reduction of my fees, I have saved for multiple years for this very circumstance, and I am working as hard as I can to keep adding to the pot. Yet this will not be enough. I would also like to add that, as the school runs privately, I am not eligible for any such governmental schemes as student finance etc.
At this moment in time it is impossible to find an individual who hasn’t been affected by the current world affairs, and I am no exception to this rule. As a self-employed Musical Theatre tutor (working with incredible organisations such as Stagecoach) I have received absolutely no government support - like so many, slipping entirely through the net and spending the past year in an extremely unstable financial position. I can only thank my lucky stars that I am safe at my family home, but again, this pandemic has hit both of my parents extremely hard alongside the trials and pressures we have faced as a family over the past couple of years when my Mum became ill with breast cancer, and my Dad lost a lot of time at work whilst looking after her.
Another important issue I would like to bring to light is that it cannot be ignored that the theatrical industry is arguably an “elitist” environment, in the sense that those from affluent backgrounds are far more able to front the costs of drama school. It deeply saddens me that this struggle of mine is far from uncommon - Dame Judi Dench said in an article of such concerns, “Anyone who’s in the theatre gets letters countless times a week asking for help to get through drama school. You can do so much, but you can’t do an endless thing. It is very expensive.” David Morrissey added to the argument with his thoughts that "There's an economic exclusion of working class people happening now. I got lucky, but if I was starting out now, it would be a lot harder, because my parents could never have supported me”. Support for those struggling with drama school fees is few and far between, and I strongly believe this needs to change, or else we risk alienating an entire demographic of budding performers entirely.
And so, I find myself turning to the generosity, support and extreme kindness of those who know me, or those who have an interest in nurturing the next generation of Musical Theatre performers, to aid me on my fundraising pursuits. If you find yourself able to leave a donation then you can follow the simple process via this page.
It would be an utmost pleasure of mine to individually thank each and every sponsor, and I would urge you to get in touch should you desire a specific favour such as a song you may like sung, a free singing or acting tutorial, updates on my time at LSMT, invites to performances whilst training and beyond... any/all ideas are welcome.
Please share this page far and wide, and continue to help me further advance on this journey of a lifetime.
I could not begin to express how overwhelmingly grateful I am for each and every donation. There is no amount too small, no gesture that will go unnoticed. I sincerely look forward to reaching out to all those of you who find yourselves able to support me at this incredibly exciting yet precarious time whilst I try to bring this money together.
Stay safe and well!
All my love and wholehearted thanks,
Hannah x
