Help Get Seltzer Boy to the Fringe!

Donation protected
'Seltzer Boy' is a one-man dark comedy that's brave enough to ask the question: why can't we, as a species, get enough of fizzy beverages?

In his crappy studio apartment on a sweltering summer day in NYC, Seltzer Boy can only find relief at the bottom of an ice-cold can of seltzer. With its zero calories and thousands of flavors, it is the perfect way to keep himself cool while tamping down Seltzer Boy's feelings of bodily inadequacy.

Or is it...?

Join Seltzer Boy on this carbonated journey as he explores TED-Talk style what it was like to grow up during the childhood obesity panic of the mid 2000s, his battles with disordered eating, and the ways in which he tries to feel comfortable in his own skin.

Written and Performed by Connor McKenna
Directed by Greg Andrew
Produced by Kelsey Sullivan

Seltzer Boy will premiere at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, running from August 2nd to August 16th in The Snug at Paradise Green - and we need your help to make it happen!

With this being Connor’s first one man show, as well as his remarkable return to the stage, the whole team is incredibly excited to bring this piece to life! We are committed to uplifting the important messaging behind this piece, as well as promoting each other’s artistry and supporting each other’s continued career growth and success through the mounting of this production.

On a personal level, Connor is hoping that by sharing his story, he will encourage vulnerability in others, and start a wider conversation surrounding male body image and dysmorphia - issues that are regularly overlooked, especially by men themselves.

Edinburgh Fringe is an important step for Seltzer Boy as a show, and the emerging artists behind it. It represents an incredible career milestone that will help to launch us into the next stage of our professional lives, and we couldn’t think of a more fulfilling way to take this step than by uplifting this show and its themes surrounding bodies and the way we love them.

And your donation (yes, yours!) is what will make this happen! With your help, we will be able to:

1) Rent our venue for two weeks of performances - Paradise Green’s Snug
2) Obtain set, props, costumes, and insurance
3) Market our show so that audiences will know it's happening!
4) And Pay! Our! Crew!!

Art should be sustainable, artists should be paid a living wage for their time and effort, and your support helps to turn these statements into realities.
