Weston's Recovery
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and compassionate strangers,
We are reaching out to you with sadness and hope as our dear friend and earth steward, Weston Bone needs our support after suffering a broken leg while doing what he loves.
Sunday, July 30th was like most evenings for Weston, climbing with friends at Mesa Rim Climbing Gym. Typically on ropes, this time Weston was bouldering. He took an awkward fall from an overhung wall and despite the gym’s substantial padding, broke both the tibia and fibula of his right leg upon impact from landing at an unusual angle. In a split second Weston’s life took a dramatic turn into the unknown. After about 24 hours in the hospital, including setting the bone in the emergency room, and early morning surgery, Weston was released to go home on crutches with orders to not bear weight on the leg (including no driving) for 6-8 weeks .
If you have ever met Weston, you know he has an unbreakable spirit and although this accident was devastating, he will undoubtedly recover remarkably well. Weston has devoted his life to being a caretaker of the earth, rewilding the Truckee Meadows by working for the past 13 years at River School Farm where he is lead of operations. He is masterful at natural and conventional building, playing the Digeridoo, climbing, bird watching, leather working and traveling in his Westfalia Volkswagon bus. Outwardly quiet, he has a remarkably confident, strong and dynamic presence along with a witty sense of humor.
Through the generosity of our compassionate community, we can ease the financial stress Weston is facing and aid him in his healing. Join us in helping him return to doing the things he loves, dreaming big and stewarding the land and water.
We are grateful beyond words for every prayer, donation, and kind action in support of Weston. Together, we can make a lasting impact on Weston's healing journey towards full recovery and new adventures.
We humbly ask for your support in helping Weston cover the costs of his current and post-care medical bills along with the loss of income for 8-10 weeks during his initial recovery period. Let’s be the wind beneath his sails and help Weston return to the climbing wall, crafting quality buildings and resounding his Digeridoo across the landscape!
Your generosity and solidarity will help Weston and it will also serve as a beacon that even the most humble and quiet community service-members will be cared for in these unpredictable moments of need.
Thank you for your unwavering support.
Weston's friends and family!
