Help Jasmine Beat Cancer

On Tuesday, Jasmine’s world was shattered in the most incomprehensible way when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a blood cancer which effects the lymph glands. As the cancer progresses, it limits the body’s ability to fight infection. On top of this, Jasmine was today also diagnosed with Acute Liver Failure. Liver failure is a relatively rare manifestation of Hodgkin‘a Lymphoma, with only 50 documented cases known to the medical team.

Jasmine, her wife Kayala and their families are staying positive as a family as Jasmine currently faces the biggest challenge of her life. They are understandably devastated, traumatised, and exhausted.

Besides the physical and emotional impact of her diagnoses, Jasmine is facing significant financial challenges coming into this battle. Jasmine and Kayala recently married, and have been working over time to fund her wife’s visa so she can continue living here in Australia. Given the hardship that Jasmine and Kayala are facing on all fronts, we want to do our bit to help them both stay afloat through this difficult time - and figured there may be others who would like to show their support by doing the same. The next 12 months are shaping up to be extremely hard for them both. Jasmine has been told that she will likely remain at the PA Hospital, where she may require a liver transplant and will need to undergo intensive treatment.

Our aim is to help Jasmine cover the cost of living and medical bills that fall outside of Medicare, during this most difficult period of her life, when she will be unable to work. We’d love to give Jasmine every chance to concentrate on surviving, without having to worry about drowning under the bills, and to allow Kayala the ability to take some time off work to help care for Jasmine. We have created a gofundme campaign for any friends who would like to help contribute to alleviating this pressure on Jasmine.
