Cheryl Baxter - Ward Matron of Baird Ward (Respiratory) Currently COVID-19 frontline ward at the Conquest Hospital.
She has recently been travelling with her husband Ivon before the UK pandemic commenced. She was due to fly home on 22nd March 2020 from Cambodia to Bangkok then to Heathrow London, when they arrived they were told they were not being allowed to fly, they would require a fit to fly medical certificate. This was fully understood and this is what Cheryl and Ivon done. Monday 23rd March 2020 they spent the whole day in the airline office gaining the correct medical certificates and flights were rebooked for Wednesday 25th March 2020. TODAY they have recieved the news that their flights are now going to be cancelled and the paperwork they gained makes no difference, Bangkok Airport will not allow them in. They will now not be allowed to fly until they have both been tested for Covid-19. This takes 72hours for results or sometimes longer. Once this has been done they dont even know when the next availible flight will be, and there is news that Bangkok Airport might even be closing.
Cheryl has run out of her MEDICATION and MONEY is running low, the language barrier and lack of communication is causing great distress to herself and her husband.
Cheryl is a FRONTLINE NURSE a MATRON, the staff of Baird Ward and our NHS need her home, part of the team! Ivon her husband is a KEYWORKER also, they are people our country need at this time and of course their family. There must be someone who can help get them home where they belong and we are working on getting the help they need.
WE ARE ASKING FOR DONATIONS TOWARDS - Flights, food and accomadation until they can get home.
