My name is Alexandra, I am a resident of DeLand Florida. I have been friends with Rufus Pinkney for many years now, he owns the Shoe Shining company in Downtown Deland behind the Coffee shop. He has been doing business there for well over 40 years. He is known all around DeLand for his harmonica playing skills, lovely smile, and postive attitude to fully trust in the Lord. Just recently he had a stroke this past Sunday 1/31/16 and has been staying in the DeLand Florida Hospital. This go fund me is to help raise money for Rufus to use on his medical bills, living expenses, and business's bills. These donations would mean so much to Rufus and his loved ones, as well as the community of DeLand to see his business remain thriving as the historic landmark it has become to be. Your donations will help not only pay for these expenses, but help relieve a man who has dedicated his whole life to the services of others, to live a little more stress free. 

Even if you can't donate much, or even anything at all, atleast take some time out of your day to go talk to him, sing some tunes while he plays his harmonica, bring him some lunch or coffee, because he has so many experiences to share. And or, bring in some shoes to support his business. You won't regret it, he is the BEST at the service he provides.


UPDATE 2/2/16
(I went to the hospital today to see Rufus, because I had stopped by his store today to give him a tiny harmonica on a necklace that he could wear and play. But, the store was closed and there was a sign on the door saying he was in the hospital. I went immediately to the hospital and saw him. I brought him the harmonica and read some of the bible to him. He is doing good,  still sharp as a tack and as faithful as ever. I told Rufus before I left the hospital, that I would help him out with money for bills and find a way to help as much as I could. I decided immediately to try GoFundMe. I made this GoFundMe at 4pm and we have already raised over 1,000. I can't believe it. I am going to see Rufus again tomorrow and show him the GoFundMe page. He is going to be so happy when he sees how many people care about him in this community. His business and himself are both historic to the city of DeLand. I'm so thankful that within just this past evening this Fundraiser has been so supported by members of our community who are so giving. God Bless to all.)
