In mid December my momma Cindy entered the hospital thinking she had pneumonia. It turned out she had recently had a heart attack as well as fluid on her heart and lungs. After 10 days in Truman hospital and many ups and downs, tests, and procedures, Mom was able to come home on Christmas Eve. Over the next 5 days she would go back to the ER 3 more times before being transferred back to Truman on New Years Day (also her birthday) where they discovered more issues with the lungs and heart. Cindy has since been transferred over to St Luke’s Hospital Cardiac Institute’ ICU where they discovered a hole in her heart as well as determined she actually had the heart attack around Thanksgiving. Doctors at St Luke’s have continued to run diagnostic tests and preform procedures to stabilize her while they wait to confirm the next course of action. There is a high probability that she will need open heart surgery.
While Cindy does have Medicare, they will only cover so much. Her being in hospital and off work, along with her husband Steve being off work to be there with her is putting extra financial strain on the couple. If you know my Parents then you know that they are the kind of people to never ask for help and give before they take. This is one of those times where they are on the other-side and need any help to relieve this financial strain. They will be eternally grateful for any help given as well as prayers.
Just an update that she is having open heart surgery Friday morning January 10.
