As many of you already know, my nephew Bryson, recently underwent open heart surgery, which was originally planned to take place last year while Carla took a year off of school. This unexpected change of plans has added significant stress to an already difficult situation for Carla and Derick.

Carla is hopeful to be able to take additional unpaid time off from work to be by his side during this critical recovery period. With her now needing to stay home for an extended period of time, the financial strain on the family has become a little overwhelming. We want to ensure that Bryson has the care and support he needs while also easing the burden on his parents and his big sister, Everett.

We are organizing this fundraiser to help cover everyday expenses, medical bills, and other unforeseen costs that may arise during this time. More details on his surgery: Arterial switch: disconnect the aorta from the right ventricle and move it to the left ventricle. He also needs a Rastelli which is replacing his non functioning pulmonary artery. They’re giving him a donor valve and an artificial pulmonary artery. They need to close his vsd and remove the stent and close his pda.
