Saving Oliver

My name is Andrew Levey and I am the proud Uncle to an amazing kid – Oliver Miller. Oliver suffered a stroke that caused a traumatic brain injury which resulted in many complex medical problems, cognitive and physical disabilities. He has fought hard his entire life battling illness, frequent hospitalizations, seizures and setbacks. Oliver never complains. He faces every hurdle with a smile. He is a funny, silly, happy dude with a great sense of humor. He is loving and affectionate and accepting of everyone he meets, there is no such thing as judgment or negativity in Oliver’s world. He is surrounded by dedicated loving family and friends who all believe in him! He is the bravest, happiest person I know. But Oliver is in a body that is broken and medically frail. Traditional medicine has its limitations, and we found that out with Oliver. Years ago we were lucky to find a few alternative treatment options that were able to help him grow and develop skills far beyond what anyone thought possible. They helped him so much - they protected his brain and it seemed like he was getting stronger everyday. They were the only treatments that offered us any real help for Oliver. They significantly improved his quality of life to the point where we finally had hope for a future with Oliver. And then COVID hit and shut down our ability to take him for treatments. Poor Oliver has had so many illnesses, setbacks, and hospitalizations since then, with this past year being particularly relentless. But Oliver’s spirit will not allow him to give up, so neither will we. We are fortunate to have found a similar treatment that has tremendous potential to help Oliver regain his strength and protect his brain from the daily non-stop seizures that he currently endures. Even though his doctors wholeheartedly approve of these treatments, they are very expensive and not covered by insurance. We are now praying that with the loving support of our family and friends, we will be able to raise enough money for these potentially life saving infusions. We are at the point where we live in daily fear, as we watch helplessly as Oliver gets worse and worse.
