Hello,
My name is Marilyn Carey, and I am a friend of Ben and Jeanne Walston, proprietors of Ben's Place, located in downtown Ironwood. As many of you may know, Ben has undergone surgery and cancer treatments in an effort to rid himself of a very aggressive cancer in his mouth, esophagus, and the surrounding tissue. Following his initial surgery, radiation and chemotherapy have been administered. At this time, Ben is unable to swallow and is taking in nourishment via a feeding tube. His need for nursing care is anticipated to continue for many months. They have traveled back and forth to the Mayo clinic countless times since May, required long term lodging during Ben's many weeks in the hospital, and upon his release scheduled on September 12th, he will require cancer follow up care, along with physical and speach therapy. Combined, this has been, and will continue to be, a huge financial burden on the Walston family.
Ben and Jeanne have done so much for our community over the years! It is my hope that those of us who have experienced their good will can now reach out to them with monetary donations to help them through their difficulty! Please donate whatever you can to these dear friends. Any amount is appreciated!
Sincerely,
Marilyn Carey
