Hello and welcome to my Go Fund Me page,
I’m Rowdy L. Baxter,
Let me first say, I LOVE LIFE and people!! I’ve had my share of broken bones and accidents but nothing compared to this. Back in 2004, I traveled to Florida to have a genetic test, after finding out a family member had a very rare genetic disorder. It was confirmed, that I too had this same Rare Genetic disorder, affecting at the time 6,000 people in the USA. Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1) https://www.alpha1.org/what-is-alpha1 , affecting the Lungs and Liver. 10yrs ago my family member had a double lung transplant- successful for he is still with us today! About 2 years ago, I started traveling, meeting new people from Houston to Corpus Christi, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and Utah, making lots of friends along the way. 7 months ago, I was invited to Costa Rica, a very memorable trip, everything was going great and then on Christmas Eve till February 20th. I was in an out of very remote hospitals, very sick, unable to determine what exactly was wrong. I was able to board a plane to OKC on the 23rd of Feb. Friends picked me up, took one look at me and took me straight to Integris Baptist. ICU and 9 days later, I learned my genetic disorder had ravaged my liver. I was in chronic liver failure. I didn’t want to believe, I really was that sick. After speaking to the team of DR’s, I needed to stay close to Integris Baptist. My friends graciously invited me into their home to recover over the next few months. Since my hospital release, along with my support team, I’ve been to many Dr appts and have met with the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Team. I have a very long journey ahead of me.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Rowdy Baxter
