Hello~
I am sharing my own story because I do not want to lay this off on someone else although I have had offers from others to do so.
I am a 60 year retired and disabled nurse. My conditions include Systemic Lupus, Lupus Myocarditis, recent discharges of defibrillator due to a new diagnosis of A-Fibrillation. I also have 5 fractured vertabrae and severe osteoporosis due to being on an anti-Lupus medication for so long. I have had a N-Stemi heartattack due to surgery. My kidneys have been affected as well. As with all illnesses, stress increases symtoms and in my case it is usually a cardiac event. I was diagnosed 17 years ago at age 43 but worked until I literally could not anymore in 2006.
I always try to do a few little side jobs, usually caring for those with dementia as I am allowed to make a small amount of money on SSDI. I have recentl.y lost that job because my lovely lady went into a nursing home
I live right now solely on my social securty disabilty check which is $1345 a month. I was making it, barely each month until my landlord unexpectedly handed me a notice he will not be renewing my lease.
I have found a friend who will allow me to stay with them for $700 a month but I am completely tapped out and cannot afford movers, first and last months rent and all the other expenses that go with moving including storage for my belongings.
My siblings have done all they can to help me because this has been a long process and at different times I have needed things like rides to the Dr. or even $$ for food or to catch up on a bill.. The last year has been rougher than the previous 2. My dear friends have helped me in many ways and I am grateful beyond belief however none are in a position to come up with this kind of $$.
My plan is to go into a Senior Low Income Complex once I turn 62. That is the minimum age for these apartments.
There are 3-5 year waiting lists for most other low income housing. Once I make this move I will have time to save and plan for a living circumstance that I can afford without future help.
I have a place to go, I just need assistance to get there. The option will be leaving all my belongings behind and living outdoors. I know I am not physically or emotionally strong enough to do so.
I am a Graduate of Hinsdale Central High School and have lived in Du Page County almost all of my life.
Any amount that you can donate will help. If a miracle occurs and I overshoot my goal the $$ will go to properly lay my daughter to rest. My Katelyn who passed in 2006. I have never had ther extra funds to bury her alongside my family.
I thank all of you in advance for reading my story. Many knew of my struggles with health but not so many of my financial situation. Please help me from living my lifelong fear of being homeless.
