"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." - John 15:12
Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit this page!
From "Anna's Army" Facebook page: On Thursday, February 4th, 2021 Annabelle (3), Karson (8), and their mom Brandi were all involved in a devastating car accident. Brandi sustained minor injuries. Karson’s jaw was fractured, but he has been discharged from hospital. Tragically, Annabelle suffered a spinal cord injury, and is currently in the ICU with many challenges ahead of her. Annabelle’s mobility from the neck down is unknown for the time being. Annabelle, Karson and Brandi need all the prayers they can possibly get.... especially Annabelle.
Update on March 20, 2021:
Annabelle recently graduated from the ICU , passed her swallow screen (bring on all the yummy food! ), and is getting fitted and taught how to use a sip and puff. *A sip and puff, is an adaptive technology used to send signals to a device by either sipping or puffing into a straw or tube. It helps people who don’t have use of their hands.* Anna has also graduated speech therapy and tested cognitively at preschool level! She is one smart cookie!
These are some things we could use some specific prayers for: a wheel chair Anna can drive, prayers for an upcoming MRI on Monday (they are concerned about how she will be taking her neck brace off), her continued healing, a special bed for when she goes home (even used ones are unbelievably pricey), and also some extra prayers for Anna as she and her family navigate ways that she can engage in play, and enjoy herself even with her “hands and legs being sick” as she says.
Behind the scenes, Brandi’s house is getting some modifications.... for anyone who doesn’t have a friend or loved one in a chair, it is eye opening when you realize how accessible most everything is NOT! Steps and thresholds into houses and throughout houses make mobility challenging and nearly impossible at times for someone in a wheelchair. Just basic things like bathing, having a bedroom on a main floor and accessible living quarters are essential!
Right now we are trying to find a pressure relief mattress for Anna. For those of you who don’t know, when you are unable to move and reposition yourself in bed a special mattress is key... and not to mention, EXPENSIVE! Anna has to be turned throughout the night to keep pressure ulcers from forming, and special mattresses help prevent skin breakdown also. To add to that, when she is sitting upright in her wheel chair all day she needs a special cushion to keep her tail bone/bottom area from pressure sores as well. So many things to consider, it’s absolutely overwhelming!
Brandi is a close friend of mine and her family needs our help! Please consider donating and following Annabelle's journey on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Pray4Annabelle/
Thank you,
Fritz and Donnybrook
