Hi, my name is Hazel Wells, and I need help raising funds to pay for my chemo treatments. On Christmas Day 2023, I learned that I have gall bladder cancer after a ER visit for abdominal pain. Since that day, my family and I have been in and out hospitals and clinics and traveling to and from New Iberia to New Orleans for my medical care. I’m currently receiving chemo treatments weekly. It’s been two months since my diagnosis, and my medical bills have already accumulated to approximately $50,000. I do have medical insurance, but I’m still responsible for about $20,000. I can’t imagine what this number will look like in the near future, as I am currently under a 6 month chemo plan. Before this, I was working full time and taking care my young teenager. I have been on medical leave since this diagnosis and living on a very tight budget. Any funds raised will be used towards this debt. Thank you for hearing my story.
