Hello all. My name is Marlyn Simon aka EboniRamm and I need your help desperately. I’ve never done this before, and I would not ask if I had another option.
I am a jazz vocalist/poet and educator, developing/facilitating interactive creative writing and jazz workshops for our youth and seniors within schools, community centers and virtually. A few highlights of mine thus far has been developing and facilitating workshops while currently serving as
- Richland Library Lifetime Literary Resident
- Education Outreach Coordinator for the ColaJazz Foundation
- McKissick Museum’s exhibit “Well Suited: Costumes by Alonzo Van Wilson” for the HBO Series, Treme’
- Creative Writing Workshop series entitled Communal Pen of which I’ve developed for the Smithsonian Institute’s traveling exhibits, collectively known as Museum on Main (MoM).
Due to a medical emergency requiring long term hospitalization with several surgeries and procedures, close to 90% of my income ceased and I was unable to satisfy my monthly expenses for nearly 12 months. Because of this, I’m now at the point of losing my home.
I’ve been on hemodialysis for 18+ years before a major portion of my right arm graft was removed during an emergent hospitalization. Currently, I’m being prepared for peritoneal dialysis at home. My nephrologist explained that this is my only option as I am not a qualified candidate for kidney transplantation at this time. Losing my home will take my only option of survival away.
Reflecting on all that has happened, I’m feeling grateful for the surgeons and their nurses coming by to check on me several times a week. It was during one of their visits when I was told that I died twice during one of my medical procedures. I am on oxygen now and just beginning to walk again unassisted, slowly.
I’m hoping that you are able to help me recover financially, medically and emotionally.
From my heart to yours, I thank you.
