Katherine was born by crash c-section January 2011. She was diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy which has led to a number of different issues. She has a form of brain damage known as PVL, Global Development Delay, autism hearing loss, hypotonia, significant joint hypermobility and a rare form of epilepsy.
Katherine needs a wheelchair to limit her pain and fatigue. Her current NHS wheelchair does not meet all her needs. She has had an assessment for a Kiddo tilt which is a much lighter wheelchair with improved postural support. This is not available on the NHS. This wheelchair will improve her independence dramatically as it is light enough for her to self propel which will greatly benefit her at school.
Having reached our initial target of £4500 for Katherine's wheelchair we would like to continue raising funds to help other families. In light of this we are adjusting our target to £6000.
Please continue to share and follow katherine's wheels on facebook for information regarding other families in need of specialist equipment.
