Hello! My name is Patricia Perry and I am an active advocate for Neuroendocrine/Carcinoid Cancer and self-help support for myself and others currently diagnosed with this rare “slow growing” disease. I am a survivor of a neuroendocrine cancer, liver metastases Stage 4 called “carcinoid”, diagnosed in December, 2014. This is a rare slow growing cancer or most of people that I know would have died before the diagnosis was found. I am very thankful I have remained positive with the support of my two sons Sergio & Julio and always remaining hopeful of an optimistic treatment that will increase my prognosis.
Living with neuroendocrine cancer has changed my life in many different ways, I suffer from fatigue, abdominal pain, eating disorder, weight loss, diarrhea and red flushing’s no name a few. It has been said that Carcinoid is a "looking good cancer" -- most of us look healthy and others cannot tell that we have a terminal disease; also Carcinoid is one of the most costly cancers to treat -- because many people live with it for years.
More than 7 months have passed since I was diagnosed with this rare disease. I have seen a doctor at the University of Miami, Sylvester Cancer, which has me under a stable treatment to control my symptoms. However, with the help of my kids and your support, I would love to seek a treatment in Houston and hopefully obtain the financial backing to pursue a more active role in other hospital. The financial needs for this effort are “huge” and kindly ask you for your support as I actively seek treatment for my disease.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Sergio, Julio & Patricia.
