Help Mr. Smith beat cancer (and now pneumonia)!

This loveable, charismatic and proud member of the camming community that is Mr. Smith needs our help and support!

 

Many of you already know, Mr. Smith has been battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma on and off for the past 4 years or so. He went through chemotherapy in 2017 and the cancer went into remission. He started feeling unwell again in early 2020 and went to get it checked out, and the sad news was that it came back as stage 4 mediastinal diffuse large B cell non-hodgkin's, during a global pandemic. This tough cookie got through many more rounds of chemo in 2020 while continuing to create content for his fans and we were hoping that the very aggressive chemo that he was on would help kick this cancer in the nonosquare. The process was very rough on his body and the pain that the tumor growth caused was something he had to fight through. Obviously, there were good days, and then there are the not-so-great days that he went through with the pain. 

 

Unfortunately, his stubborn, like the man himself, cancer tumor did not go away with even the aggressive rounds of chemo. First it was R-Epoch Chemo, then BEAM chemo, then stem-cell transplant. As none of those worked, next he tried Car-T therapy, (info here: https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/research/car-t-cells), but that also didn't work. In mid 2021, he started exploring different options with his oncologist based on the results they were seeing, and he was submitted as a candidate for an experimental treatment at the Mayo Clinic in the fall. If you’ve been reading about some infusion treatments, that’s what this is as he was a successful candidate for the clinical trials. 

 

The problem with the tumors, other than being a malignant growth, is that it continues to cause excruciating pain anytime he moves. One being located between his heart and his lungs, it’s extremely hard to operate, and another on his adrenal gland. This has been the reason he’s been off work, and as a self-employed individual, that means reduced or no income for some time.
