My name is Timothy Womack (TJ), I am 16 years old. On April 15, 2014 I was diagnosed with a rare form of Colon Cancer known as Mucinous Adenocarcinoma. Doctors gave me 9 months at most with the aid of an aggressive surgery called Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC). A procedure which a highly concentrated, heated chemotherapy treatment is delivered directly into the abdomen after the removal of tumors through surgery. There is only one doctor in North America that has created a way to perform this procedure on children, located at MD Anderson. I endured this 12 hour procedure on October 31, 2014. It appeared to be a success as 10 months later I was still pretty healthy especially for someone who has endured chemotherapy for the last year and a half. However, that began to change at month 11. After several stays in the hospital, along with scans and tests, doctors realized the tumors have begun to grow back. In January 2016 I’m heading back to Houston for a 2nd attempt at the HIPEC procedure. My mother has been a trooper through my journey. I thank God for her. Psalm 91 has been my strong hold. She has taken off work for doctor appointments and emergency room visits in Houston and Austin. This has taken a toll financially. She will have to take off for at least two months as I recover at MD Anderson. Thanks for supporting my journey and may God Bless you!
