I Sandy, am the organizer of this fundraiser,
My husband's name is Robert Hood. He has always been a loving husband, father, and grandfather. The outdoors has always been his passion. He has loved his many years on the Brady Creek Deer Lease where he enjoys fixing things up, filling feeders, cooking & trying to ensure that everyone else has a great time.
He has spent the last 45 years in the construction industry. The last 19 years he found a home at Highland Homes. He loves this job as he tries his best to find resolutions to homeowners problems even if it is the weekend, evening or a holiday.
Recently, we received some terrible news after being in the hospital for a week with much testing. We learned Robert has Stage 4 Lung Cancer. This road will be a long struggle and unfortunately is going to be costly with copays, new deductibles, reduced pay, etc.
But, we are ready to BEAT It!
For anyone that knows Robert, you know he is the last person to ask for help. He has enjoyed his years at Highland Homes mentoring younger builders and customer care managers. Fellow employees as well as homeowners consider him the guy to call for advice or to look at projects and he always goes above & beyond to solve problems & help others. Robert always tries not to bother folks for help and has always taken care of his needs on his own.
With everything going on, he is concerned that he doesn't want to leave the family with large bills, and his fellow employees have pushed me into setting this up to help us get through this difficult situation.
He has supported me for years and while we don't know what the future holds, we have been told that reduced pay and insurance and medical cost is going to be hard for us to manage on our own. He is going to do everything possible to beat this cancer & plans on working as much as he can. We do not know what the road ahead will bring but we do not want money to be a hold up on anything. There is a tremendous amount of stress that has come with this diagnoses & the unknown. Robert has very seldom been out sick from work and has never been on prescription medications before this.
Hopefully, Robert will see everyone back at work as soon as possible but I just do not know what the road ahead is going to be and he wants to make sure his family does not struggle from his health issues. This will be a difficult battle for him, but we have all the FAITH and confidence that he is tough enough to beat this. Our motto is, "Robert is stronger than the illness!".
For these reasons, I am humbly requesting your help in fighting this battle by donating whatever amount you can, however big or small, as it will make a HUGE difference. Please continue to send positive energy, thoughts, well-wishes, visits & prayers for my husband & me. We appreciate each & every one of you. Thank you for helping heal my husband!!
