Hello, my name is Henry Brooks. My mother, Patricia, Catherine Brooks, known as Cathy to her friends passed away on August 12, 2023. Her friends and family whom live out of the area, some of which have known her for more than 60 years were able to call and say goodbye to her. My mother was unconscious when she went to the hospital on the 4th of August.
For those of you who’ve had the pleasure of meeting my mother, know she was a fighter. She fought a long and hard battle for many years. She lost her husband my father on 12/23/2008. I take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with him. And is no longer in any pain.
Mom knew the days were coming and she wanted a green burial, biodegradable coffin, without the usage of embalming. Green burials cost between $1500-$2500. If the goal is surpassed, it will go towards final bills.
Which is why I’m asking for help, and those who know me, know I am not one to typically ask for help. But financially I am not able to afford the cost right now. And it’s killing me that mom is in the morgue right now and not able to be in the ground.
She always said when I’m gone, I want your fathers ashes with me, so we can be together.
My parents were very strong willed even with the health issues. In and out of the hospital for over 20+ years. There were times, where they were on deaths doors, and got more time with them. But mom passed on the 12th of August, just 9 days before her 77th birthday.
