Update 12/13: he has been back to relook at the amputation but it’s still too swollen to close and had to take some more dead muscle. They will be going back in on Tuesday 12/17 to hopefully close it up, if not at least clean it up some more. He was moved to a step down room 12/11. One step closer out the door and back home. He is very exhausted and is up for periods at a time. They were able to take his neck brace off so he’s a lot more comfortable and can have conversations. Thank for the continuous prayers. My dad is strong and a fighter.

UPDATE 12/10: He went in for surgery this morning at around 755am and got the call he was out of surgery at 11:15am. They worked on and completed his femur with the steel rod. He will need another surgery tomorrow to take more of the amputation and close it up. They did not work on that today. He tried waking up again and put up more of a fight this time so we requested for him to stay sedated and resting so his body isn’t under distress finding out about his foot before surgery again tomorrow.

UPDATE 12/9/24 they finished surgery early this morning and did amputate from his left calf down and stabilized his femur but not fully. We are extremely grateful and forever will be that they took part of his leg and his foot but did they not take him. They are hoping by Wednesday 12/11/24 to take him off of sedation.

My father was involved in a motorcycle accident 12/8/24 by firehouse subs in Venice that was not his fault. He was going southbound while the driver was going north making a left hand turn and didn’t see him and hit him. He was then rushed to Sarasota Memorial. He is currently being sedated with a breathing tube, a broken femur and no blood flow from his left calf down and will be needing surgery to amputate. We were told he’s going to be sedated probably for the next couple of days before they can work on his femur but they are focusing on the left calf down right tonight. I have the goal set to $5000, I want to be able to help my parents not have to worry and stress about bills this month and focus on him while he is in the hospital and recovering. I know it’s hard close to the holidays but anything helps. Thank you in advance
