Dan and Jeannine welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Azul, on November 13th, 2020. In the two short months he has been on this planet, he’s been through more medical procedures than anyone should have to go through in a lifetime. At 10 days old, he was rushed to the ER with liver problems and doctors were unable to determine the cause. Miraculously, they were able to give him a liver transplant at under 1 month old. After 2 months in the PICU, his condition stabilized enough to come off the ventilators, and was discharged to go home shortly thereafter.

Throughout this journey, Dan and Jeannine have been finding their own way as new parents, in the PICU, in a Covid world. This has been an incredibly stressful time, and Azul’s medical journey is not over. This is not the type of newborn stress any parent imagines or prepares for, and will surely bring unknown financial and caretaking challenges for Dan and Jeannine. Our ultimate goal is to eliminate some of these monetary expenses for Dan and Jeannine so they can focus on taking care of their baby.
