A fresh start

I am asking for help. Not my thing. I have been offered an opportunity to change my (and more importantly my child's) life for the better. I went back to school to get my BA when my kid was 3. Single parent. I went to a school that had online and night classes so I could work and take care of my kiddo. Hired babysitters at night to go to class. Zero financial help. I took out loans to survive. I knew I would never get out of debt. It still felt worth it. My student loan company has just let me know that if I can come up with $6,500 they will settle my $34,000 in debt. I have 10 days to come up with it. I LOVED my time at Metro in St Paul. First time I proved to myself that I could finish something and I would not change it for anything. That said, this is the only debt I carry and it would change so much to be rid of it. So, here I go, asking for help.
