On July 15th, tragedy hit our family when our father was critically burned while working on a vehicle that caught fire. He was rushed to the ER and then flown to Portland, where he will need to stay for a few months to be treated for the multiple burns over his body and face.

Many of you may know or know of our dad, Manuel Malfavon. He has lived in Medford for over 30 years with his wife Nelly Malfavon and 5 children, Junior, Jorge, Danny, Donna & Michelle Malfavon. He has 10 very loved grandchildren, too.

Our dad is also a local business owner. He runs a well-known mechanic shop in our community, MGR (Malfavon’s General Repair). Unfortunately, due to us not having anyone to help run his business, we will be shutting it down.

Our mom hasn’t left his side & will be staying in Portland to help take care of him. So she will also be out of work until further notice.

Asking for help is something we are not used to - and it’s hard, especially for our father. But the last thing we want him to worry about is money.

We will do everything we can to cover all their medical, travel & living expenses but have no idea how long they will be at the hospital, so we are asking from the bottom of our hearts for a bit of help and prayer.

Our dad is an amazing husband, father, grandfather & friend… always has a smile on his face & looking for ways to help anyone he can. He is the most selfless man we have ever met, even through this tragedy. He was trying to hide all his burns on the way to the hospital so our mom wouldn’t worry about him - that’s the type of man he has always been. He is our rock and a friend to all. He is the man everyone goes to for help because it’s well known that he has a heart of GOLD. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He works endless hours to try to help others as much as possible, not worrying about even his own health because he’s so focused on helping everyone else. He is a man of integrity and compassion. A true example of what a husband, father, and friend should be. With him, this world feels like a better place. We have faith in his strength and are optimistic about his ability to recover. But now, it’s our turn to be there for him like he is for others.

So again, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you in advance for any support in our dad’s fight to recovery. We appreciate you all.

-Michelle, Donna, Danny, Jorge and Emmanuel
