Amazing Grace

We, as friends of Linda and Eddie, are organising this fundraiser for their amazing daughter Grace. Thanks Sharon, Jenny, Elaine and Tanya

As many of you may have heard, on Tues 30th Jan 2024, Grace Donegan(10) from Kilnamanagh collapsed suddenly while at gymnastics. She had suffered a brain bleed caused by an aneteriovenous malformation (AVM) which she was born with but was unaware of. Grace was rushed to Our Lady's Children's Hospital and transferred from there to Temple Street Hospital where she underwent emergency brain surgery. Grace's parents, Linda and Eddie were told every parents worst nightmare that their youngest child and only daughter Grace was critical.

With Linda and Eddie by Grace's side 24hours a day, Linda's mam Barbara (Nana Barbara) moved into the family home to support Grace's two brothers Evan and Luke. Everyone who knows Grace and the Donegan/Hall family have been left devastated since this happened.

It has been five weeks since the incident and Grace has overcome every obstacle in her way completly astonishing the Doctors/Nurses in Temple Street at her progress. However, Grace still has a long road to recovery ahead of her. Grace will require radiation to shrink the AVM and constant monitoring of this for the next two to five years. In the next few months her team are hoping to move Grace to The National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) in Dun Laoghaire where she will require intensive physiotherapy/speech therapy/occupational therapy.

Grace is a funny, energetic, strong willed, beautiful young girl with a passion for football, playing for her local team KAFC u11s. She adores Katie McCabe and was delighted to receive a video message from her No.1 idol wishing her a speedy recovery. She plays Gaa for St Kevin's Killians and she also loves dancing, gymnastics and basketball. There is nothing Grace can't do and she excels at everything she does. She attends St Kevin's girls school where she is in 4th class and she has a great group of friends who Grace's parents call the "Super 7" who have been a wonderful support to their best friend Grace. Evan and Luke, Grace's two brothers and their two dogs Kobi and Nala are missing their little sister and can't wait for her to come home.

As you can appreciate, Grace's recovery and eventual return home will have a significant financial impact on her family and setting up this fundraiser will help us meet the costs of the potential future care for Grace and also provide her with the help of extra supports and adjustments to her family home as needed.

Grace's parents Linda and Eddie would like to thank family, friends, the community of Kilnamanagh and everyone who has supported them and their family through this extremely difficult time. They have felt the love and support of everyone and in their words felt "held" at a time when they needed it most.
