Join Us In Supporting Brian’s Healing Journey

Dear Happy Girl Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we share some news on our dear friend Brian.

At the end of February, Brian suffered a cardiac arrest followed by multiple massive strokes. He is currently in hospital undergoing physical and cognitive assessments. We do know Brian is completely paralyzed on the right side, with limited mobility on his left side and will require extensive life-long rehabilitation and support once he leaves the hospital. He also has limited vision and cannot properly use his voice. Brian has a long and difficult journey ahead of him.

The Happy Girl community means the world to Brian and I can confidently assume that Brian has impacted many of you personally. A few years ago, my grandmother passed away, leaving my grandfather and their dog Tucker grieving with a broken heart. Brian saw the pain they were feeling and (along with Champagne his beautiful German Shepherd/Aussie mix) would check in on them weekly. This went on for years and it brought a light back into their lives. My grandfather and Tucker would look so forward to Brian’s visit, as he reminded them constantly "LIFE IS PERFECT". I'm sure you all have a similar story where Brian has come to your rescue.

Well, it is now our time to rally together for Brian! Brian will require 24-hour care and therefore need to reside permanently in a nursing home. He will be dependent on expensive equipment such as a customized electric wheelchair and various mobility devices. To keep his mind and body healthy, aggressive therapies are essential indefinitely. These therapies are only partially subsidized.

It’s Sandra’s dream to bring Brian home for short day visits with the dogs. In order to do this, she will need to purchase a larger vehicle that accounts for his wheelchair and retrofit their home with multiple ramps, widening of doorways, a chair lift and much more.

In addition to caring for Brian and his wellbeing, Sandra is also trying to maintain the business and pay their bills.

I ask you from the bottom of my heart – and with loads of humility and concern for Brian and Sandra – to please consider donating to and sharing widely this Go Fund Me page.

On behalf of Brian’s wife Sandra – thank you all for your endless support, reaching out, kind words and healing vibes. She is so grateful for this community.

Thank you
